Why?

Empowering You To Look and Feel Like Your Best Self

In the realm of medical aesthetics, empowerment is an essential foundation. It’s about taking control of your choices and decisions regarding your appearance, health, and well-being. Empowerment means being well-informed, confident, and proactive in your pursuit of aesthetic treatments. It allows you to collaborate effectively with your treatment provider to achieve your desired outcomes while maintaining a sense of ownership over your body and the treatments that you undergo. Informed empowerment ensures that you’re not swayed by external pressures or trends but rather make choices that align with your values, enhancing your self-esteem and overall confidence. Ultimately, being empowered in the world of medical aesthetics empowers you to feel and look your best on your terms.

“Unique and tailored consultation”

We employ a personalized approach that revolves entirely around YOUR distinct facial anatomy, structure, and cultural background. These essential elements form the foundation of a tailored treatment plan, ensuring your complete confidence in the process. As your dedicated nurse injector, we are committed to providing continuous care—from your initial consultation to follow up appointments, whether they occur weeks, months, or even years apart. Our goal extends beyond delivering a confidence boost after your first visit; we aspire to foster lasting empowerment in your skin that endures.

Natural looking results that you will love.

Certified Nurse Injector, Founder, Mentor, Educator

Katelyn Burden, RN, BScN

Katelyn is the founder and owner of Empowered Medical Aesthetics Inc. After spending 3 years as a ICU nurse and 7 years working as a Kinesiologist prior to that, Katelyn stumbled across cosmetic injections after noticing some signs of aging that she had treated. After spending her entire life playing some sort of sport whether it may be rugby or long distance running, it was unexpected when she immediately felt drawn to the field. It wasn’t long before Empowered Medical Aesthetics was in development. Katelyn has a deep rooted love for education and all things self development, in fact she is currently completing her Masters in Nurse Practitioner studies, and any chance she can get she is educating her clients on the field. Future goals include expanding the clinic and practice to focus on women’s wellness, and fertility treatment.

Katelyn has completed her Fundamentals of Neurotoxin & Dermal Fillers Course, and has continued over the last 4 years to build upon that education every chance she can. Some of the courses she has completed but not limited to are: Advanced Neurotoxin, Medical Neurotoxin, Advanced Lip Techniques (Cannula), Anatomy & Cadaver Dissection Labs, Advanced Filler (Jawline, Chin Shadowing, Tear Trough), Deoxycholic Acid (Fat-Dissolving Injections), Biostimulatory Filler Training (Radiesse Injections), Full Facial Balancing with Dermal Filler (8-Point Lift).

What is your hobby of choice when not working?
When not working in the clinic, or casually in the ICU, you can find Katelyn completing some sort of physical exercise. Heavy weight lifting has got to be one of her favourites, or a nice long hikes with her 2 year old, husband and 2 dogs. As a strong Type A personality, Katelyn is rarely sitting and relaxing, and can always find something to do around the house. Even if it is starting a renovation that won’t get finished for another month or two.
What are you most likely to be doing around the clinic in between clients?
Being distracted by the millions of other tasks to be completed in the clinic or personally. Katelyn wears many hats-as do most entrepreneurs- but often can be caught cleaning the clinic, posting a social media and eating her lunch all at the same time.
What is your favorite animal and why?
Dogs, dogs, dogs and OH did we say dogs? Katelyn and her husband Tylor have spent most of their time together with their 2 rescues, Walt and Murph. They have also fostered many dogs over the years, and have the best memories and stories to share regarding those experiences. Don’t forget to ask Katelyn about Diamond when you are in the clinic next, it’ll make you laugh, we promise.

Get to know me

What is your hobby of choice when not working?
When not in the clinic treating patients, Julia loves to expand her knowledge and skills by researching and reading about new things. You could say Julia is a bit of a nerd and would be a lifelong student if the option was presented! Julia is also a committed yogi, attending her favourite local studio almost every day to participate in warm yin or a hot flow class. Other hobbies include hiking with her dog and husband, thrifting, flipping thrifted goods, and decorating! You can also catch her getting back into gaming, which used to be a passion of hers growing up.
What are you most likely to be doing around the clinic in between clients?
In between patients, the first thing you will find Julia doing is cleaning and sanitizing her space. Next on the list would be completing her patient charts and preparing charts for the next visit. Non-negotiables are making sure she is hydrated and fuelled up for her next patient with one of her many teas, granola bars, and other random items that she keeps in the kitchen cupboards. You could say tea and sharing tea is Julia’s love language, so feel free to ask her for one on your next visit. But don’t be surprised if you leave with a tea or tea bag in hand for later, even if you don’t ask!
What is your favorite animal and why?
Julia is a true animal lover, so this is such a hard question! Of course, she would have to say first and foremost, her favourite animal is her 100-pound malamute akita, Hiro. But outside of this, her favourite animal is a panda. Growing up, Julia was fascinated about Chinese and Asian culture (no surprise she ended up in Traditional Chinese Medicine!), but her love for pandas really took off when her dad got her her first stuffed animal, a panda named Bamboo. After this, she went on to collect upwards of 20, so you know the dedication to pandas was strong! As she has gotten older, Julia has realized that outside of their undeniable cuteness and chill demeanour, pandas are an inspiration to her due to their ability to pivot and evolve based on their shortcomings and surroundings. When pandas weren’t able to keep up with their prey, they became vegetarians, with their diet now mainly consisting of something that grows plentifully around them, bamboo. Julia reminds herself to always think of their decision to go with the flow rather than work against it, and how in the end, it led to their prosperity and overall survival. Julia also has a soft spot for wolves, hawks, ravens, crows, and is warming up to spiders because she was told that they are one of her spirit guide animals.
